Back to School

Hi everyone,

Thanks for swinging by today.

Living in Hawaii, our school system is a little different from the continental U.S. Here, our children are on what is considered a year round system, meaning we started school back in July.

One of the required items that continuously keeps making an appearance on my daughter's school supply list is her handy dandy composition book.
Needles to say, I hate the black and white marble cover and even though my daughter is in high school, it must be revamped!

For my project today, I made a super simple book cover and in honor of returning back to school, KBD's cute school owl was used as my center piece. The background frames was made using my Mama Elephant dies. If you never heard about this company, I encourage you to take a look and see what you like. They have the cutest stamps and accompanying dies.

To create the binding cover, I cut my yellow cardstock at 2.5 inches wide and wrapped it over my chosen scrap paper cover and covered the seam of my binding cover with ribbon I found at my local craft fair.

This super cute original cover ensures that my daughter will always be able to find her composition book first and will be able to get a head start on her assignments before the rest of the class. It also has the added benefit of the teacher always remembering whose book they are checking as well.

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have a scrappy day!

Delightful & Frightful Frankie

Aloha all,

This past weekend I decided to play around with Samantha Walker's castle bendy card that I found in the Silhouette online store design ID #53879.

I've had this file in my stash for awhile now and never quite knew what to do with it until KBD made the super cute Charmkin Cutie-Frankie file.

I used my eBrush to add a two tone texture to the main part of the castle and embossed using a Tim Holtz brick folder. The red roof as accented with crackle glaze to age the roof and the turrets were also shaded in using my eBrush.

For the lower castle wall, I had to do some tweaking by making two duplicates, releasing the compound path, taking away the bricks, editing the points in the second duplicate, so that it left me with the yellow doorway and viola! I love the finished look.

For Frankie, I resorted back to my inks and chalks to shade in all the edges.
Confession time, I used more than one file from KBD to make this card. If you look to the left of the fence, you will notice a little spider sitting on a web. This spider came from KBD's Bride of Frankie. The moon, stars and arched cat came from KBD's soon to be retired Halloween house scene.

For the stamp sentiment I used Jaded Blossom's, "Too Cute to Spook" as well as their Fall dies sign post and combined it with the Halloween dies.
As you can see, the super cute ghost came from the Halloween die as well. To get her super cute facial expression, I used my stamp set from Peachy Keen Stamps labeled Sweet on you.

                       Too Cute To SpookFall Dies
                                                Halloween Dies
For Frankie and the other individual pieces, I went back to using my chalks and inks to edge the fine details. To top off the finishing touch to my card creation I used mini flat back beads by Taylored Expressions.

I hope you all enjoyed my card and thanks for stopping by.

Mahalo and I hope you have a scrappy day.

Aloha guys!

You should just have come from Jessi.  If you missed the beginning line up you can start here with Melanie.
One of my favorite sayings is "You're the bee's knees". When I saw Scrappy Moms Stamps, "Amusing Animals" stamp with this saying I just knew I had to use it to make my KBD creation. I found Lori Whitlock's A2 pop out card in the Silhouette online store and just knew I had to create my project with it.

I just love KBD's cutie Kadoodle Bumble Bears and don't you agree that SMS stamp goes so well with it?

I used my handy dandy Stickles accents to glitter my project as well as the "Bee's knees" on the stamp. To create my eyelashes I used my Micron pen 0.05 and fanned out the lashes. To top off my card I used dies from Jaded Blossom.

Up next is the super talented JoAnn and her awesome creation.

Hope you guys all enjoy my card.

Not My Circus...

Hi all,

Thanks for stopping by. Have you ever had those moments where you got yourself involved in other peoples problems, jobs, errands, etc. and it quickly spiraled out of control? I know I have and every time it happens, I can't help but think, "How do I get myself involved in this mess?!!"

To honor these special occasions and to remind myself to not get involved in things beyond my control I made myself a shadow box picture frame.

Lol! Isn't that sentiment the funniest? It has been popping up all over my Facebook wall and when I saw that KBD had a circus theme, I just knew I had to create my own version of this.

To color the frame, I finally got around to using my now much loved, Ebrush. Holy moly is this thing awesome! I can totally see myself using this bad boy to ink the edges of my creations instead of constantly using my sponge and stamps.

The ticket stamp came from Stampin Up and just added that finishing touch to remind me I don't have tickets to other people's circus'.

Hope you guys had a great laugh with this one.

Witch's Brew

Hi guys,

Thanks for stopping by. Halloween has got to be one of my most favorite holidays. Who doesn't love all the free candy their kids bring home? LOL...for me, it all just goes straight to my thighs, but the candy tastes so delicious getting there.

To honor this awesome holiday I created this super cute Charmkin Potion Witch from Kadoodle Bug Designs. Would you believe the background scenery is also from Kadoodle Bug Designs? Hurry on over because they're having a super sale going on and the Halloween background and the cute little ghost are going into retirement and once they are gone, they are gone.

It's a little hard to see, but if you look closely, I pop dotted some of the cauldron bubbles and added glitter to them using my green stickles glitter.

Sentiment and die came from Jaded Blossom, one of my favorite places to shop for stamps and dies. The stamp is from their Halloween goodies and the die is from their mini tags 2 die.

The card shape is from SVG Cuts and is called Cards for Mom. I just love the size this card imports in at. It leaves me able to add so many more details to my card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a scrappy day.

Little Miss Kokeshi

Hi guys,

Thanks for stopping by. I have forever been wanting to make use of Kadoodle Bug's kokeshi girl.

I finally had a brainstorm and combined the kokeshi file with SVG Cuts, Spring Blossom's box card.

To top off the card I added a pagoda die from Magnolia Doohickey dies to the background.
I am so pleased with the end result.

LOL...my Sashakins decided she needed to be part of the action and just had to pop into the photo.
